The Adventures of Tintin. Volume 1

In this first adventure, which began to be published in strips in the children's supplement of the Belgian newspaper Le Vingtième Siècle, Hergé began drawing what would become the most famous reporter of all time: Tintin. For his first trip, he sends him to the land of the Soviets, with the newspaper's desire for anti-communist propaganda, which Hergé would later regret. Upon his return from the former Soviet Union, Hergé is commissioned to send the young reporter to the Congo, then a Belgian colony, and the resulting comic is an excellent representation of the European view of Africa at that time. In the third adventure in this volume, Tintin has to change continents and travel to North America, where he will have to face the terrible Chicago gangster syndicate, including the famous Al Capone. Hergé wanted to show as much of America as possible, such as the diverse landscapes, the big cities and industries, the prohibition of alcoholic beverages, and the plundering of the Native Americans, denouncing the way they were driven from their lands when oil was found there.

This is the first volume of a new commemorative edition that will bring together the 24 comics that make up The Adventures of Tintin in a new compact format, ideal for discovering—or rediscovering—the intrepid adventures of the most famous reporter and his faithful dog. Almost a hundred years after its first publication, Hergé remains one of the greatest icons of European comics. This special edition will not be reprinted beyond this first publication.

The Blue Lotus - Colourised album- French

    €22.12

First pre-published in Le Petit Vingtième between August 1934 and October 1935, under the title Les Aventures de Tintin, reporter en Extrême-Orient, The bleu Lotus was published by Casterman, in French, as a 124-page black-and-white book in 1936. Chasing the opium smugglers he encountered in Cigars of the Pharaoh to China, Tintin finds himself embroiled in multiple deceptive plots: who are the enemies and who are the allies in this chiaroscuro tale? In this adventure, our hero befriends Tchang, a young Chinese boy who helps him to overcome his past prejudices. Having gained a friend for life by solving the riddle from the previous adventure, Tintin finds himself at odds with Rastapopoulos, now his sworn enemy… The fifth title in the colourised collection of original adventures published in the 1930’s, this edition allows us to rediscover this iconic adventure in an entirely new palette of colours, whose nuances particularly enhance the night scenes, revealing the intensity of the action and the beauty of the vignettes. This adaptation is preceded by a preface by Hergéologist Philippe Goddin, who sheds light on the creation of this pivotal adventure in Hergé’s work. The cover reproduces a vignette from the original edition, adapted to the new format.

THE ADVENTURES OF TINTIN - Cigars of the Pharaoh - Facsimile Version B/W Colored- French

After the colorization of the first titles published in black and white, the 4th album of The Adventures of Tintin, Cigars of the Pharaoh, was soon to be published. This 4th album incorporates a new color palette inspired by the artistic spirit that guided the coloring of the old films, respecting the black lines and the flat areas drawn and placed by Hergé. A new form of expression for the characteristic and exuberant environments of the jungle, the deserts or the Egyptian frescoes.

Tintin and the Alpha Art becomes part of the classic collection of The Adventures of Tintin. Tintin and the Alpha Art is published with a new presentation, with a layout that makes it easier to read the adventure, and highlights the most finished sketches. And above all, the final pages present a series of newly found documents, which give a new version about the end of the story, and the eight possible endings of the book.

Fans of Tintin's adventures had to wait eight years after Flight 714 to Sydney to read Tintin and the Picaros, which began appearing in 1976. Hergé was now only working for pleasure, and was in no hurry. The idea took time to take shape. The setting was clear to him: South America.

This album marks a return to adventure. It begins to appear in the weekly Tintin, in September 1966, four years after the end of The Castafiore Emerald. Here we meet again Rastatopoulos, whom we thought drowned at the end of The Red Sea Sharks, and his friend Allan. A new figurine appears: the very rich Lazlo Carreras, the man who never laughs.

This is a comic masterpiece. We prefer not to explain the plot of the story here, so that those who read it for the first time can fully enjoy it. From the beginning, the events are chained at a fast pace: an explosion is heard, a storm breaks out, objects break, the power goes out and Serafin Brass arrives for the first time in the series.

This work began to be published in the weekly magazine Tintin on March 30, 1950, nineteen years before the arrival of man on the moon. It is not science fiction but an anticipation as accurate as possible. Hergé contacted Dr. Bernard Heuvelmans, author of the book L'homme parmis les étoiles (Man Among the Stars), a specialist on the subject, who collaborated with the team.
